Injuries are sudden and instantly transforming. Injuries are gradual; slowly increasing in intensity. Injuries leave a physical scar that requires treatment but it's the psychological scars that are often the last to heal.
Our communities, states, and country have experienced the deeps wounds of social injustice, the empowerment of hate, and a global pandemic. The bandages of mantras, retweets and likes are just that, temporary coverings while the true healing treatments are needed.
The our psychological healing starts at "me." How do I self-reflect on the depth of my injury? Did I realize my pain immediately or has this been a nagging uncomfortable feeling that is now unbearable? How can I constructively engage in conversation to share my injury, hear from others in my community and identify a mutual healing treatment?
The ”me” transforms to ”we”. The ”we” takes the local diagnosis and prescription to the region, to the country, where large-scale preventative measures decrease the risk of repetitive injuries.
”We” can heal - one kind word, one open perspective, one common ground, one united voice for peace. The treatment will be may be uncomfortable but the prognosis is positive.
”We, the people....e pluribus unum (out of many one).”
